The Holocaust Museum Houston project was a renovation to the existing Holocaust Museum and an addition of a new 50,000-square-foot, three-story building that was tied into the existing facility. The new building consists of a new exhibit space that houses a boat and rail car as well as a new outdoor amphitheater.
The construction of this project required the preservation of existing structural elements and protection of irreplaceable artifacts, while expanding the facility from a 21,000-square-foot building to over 63,000-square-feet facility. Existing foundations had to be reinforced due to the size and weight of the new additions prior to construction. The new construction maintains the same themes and elements from the original museum representative of the Holocaust.
